SM TOWN Live in Singapore

SM Town Live in Singapore was absolutely magical. I had been waiting for this since forever and it felt like a dream come true. One that I didn’t believe was actually possible when I started my fan girl journey. So it was with excited and happy hearts that Doreen and I went got SM Town Live in Singapore!!

It started off terribly. The queues were horrible, and too many EXO fans were everywhere. We had to literally fight our way in. I was separated with my friends and we were afraid we were going to end up in different mosh pits. Luckily we ended up together, but after getting tagged we escaped the queue to go get a drink. We came back to a slight drizzle and a large space where we cut our way in as there was no shelter. Hence, we got to stand in the rain for quite a bit, complete with lightning and thunder a full blown rainstorm. Shivering in our raincoats, huddled under our umbrella holding heavy bags and our fanboards. Luuckily, the rain stopped in time for the concert to begin.

When the concert started it was amazing. Getting to see all these amazing people upclose, knowing that they were real. Knowing that they were performing their hearts out, putting in their best to ensure the fans enjoyed themselves really made me feel touched.

I have my biases, but I really couldn’t decide my favourite performance of the night. I loved them all. I had seen most of them individually at separate events before but seeing them together, made the night magical.

I just want to gush on and on about how Changmin was all too charismatic on stage and made me fall in love with him all over again, or how friendly Tiffany was like, exactly like a Disney princess, or how pretty Yoona and Jessica are in real life, and how I was so glad to see Kangin come back together as part of Super Junior again, or how splendid Jonghyun’s body has turned out and how precious the Super Junior boys were being, acting there this was their concert at the end. OH, AND WE SAW QUEEN BOA LIVE!

My money is spent on having great experiences, and this was no doubt one of them. Every time I see Super Junior, or TVXQ or SNSD perform live, I am reminded of why I love them so much, and why my love for them is all worth it.

They have helped me get through life in their own ways, putting smiles on my face when I needed it, giving me the motivation to carry on and most of all, having something to look forward to in the future. I have always felt grateful to them for so many reasons, and getting to see the people who have such a big part in my life in ways they never know, it really means a lot to me. It seemed so impossible at one point, and getting to attend a SM Town concert just proves to me that I am unlocking my achievements one at a time, no matter how impossible they might seem now.

It was a wonderful concert. Mood didn’t get dampened by the rain, there were fabulous pyrotechnics, water fountains and most importantly of all, the people of SM TOWN. Fandoms came together to cheer their favourite idols working side by side. A concert I will never forget.

No pictures as Doreen and I were too busy spending out time enjoying the performances, waving lightsticks and fanboards at out idols, singing along and cheering for them.

To make up for it, here are some pictures I got off Google.

kpop in Singapore

Gone are the days when it seemed impossible to attend a kpop concert in Singapore. Besides the rare few like Rain and Shinhwa, nobody nobody ever came. I had to write to concert/event companies to try and persuade them to bring kpop artistes like TVXQ and Super Junior in which they would then reply, oh the market is not big enough, not enough fans etc. But look how wrong they are, kpop is seriously the biggest thing to earn money that is now. Concert prices are incredibly insane, idols sell out their concerts and have to do 2 day shows. Everyone is looking to exploit the overseas market!

Look at the recent example,

NU'EST in SINGAPORE.

$500 for a ROOKIE group even to stalk them during their entire Singapore journey is really quite ridiculous.

With $500 let's take a look at what other KPOP events we can attend.

going to concerts with the best seats,

a) BIG BANG galaxy live tour concert + SM TOWN LIVE (my pick!)
b) BIG BANG galaxy love tour concert + 2NE1 New Evolution Global Tour (for the YG fans)
c) SHINee World Concert II + SM TOWN LIVE (ultimate SHINee fans)
d) SHINee World Concert II + 2NE1 New Evolution Global Tour (for those who want an exciting December)
or

a) BIG BANG galaxy live tour concert + SM TOWN LIVE + 2NE1 New Evolution Global Tour + SHINee World Concert II (all with the worst seats)

Still a winner. I guess it is okay if you are a NU'EST fan? But seriously. NO. Stop exploiting us! We love our oppas and unnis but WE ARE NOT MADE OF MONEY!

I say that yes, but I am totally willing to go for concerts which I feel are worth it like SM TOWN!

WOO YEAH!

SM TOWN LIVE IN SINGAPORE IS HAPPENING! :D

CANNOT WAIT!

KPOP Game

Hello there, I would like to introduce a little game I played with my friends over a round of drinks. Everyone needs to have a decent amount of KPOP knowledge for this to be fun. 1) Gather around in circle. 2) One person starts and does a short signature dance of a KPOP song. 3) If nobody gets the answer, the dancing person drinks. If one person gets the answer, everyone else drinks. Only the person who guessed it the fastest wins. If everyone gets the answer, the dancing person drink as well. 4)Continue to next person. 5)End game when drunk. Some songs good for the game with really obvious moves. Have you voted for Super Junior yet?

If you have not already voted for Super Junior for MTV EMA's Best Asian Act please do so now!

You can vote by going here and click vote!!

So if you don't already know, here is the thing if Super Junior wins "Best Asian Act" they will then proceed to vie for the "Best Worldwide Act". This was won by Big Bang in Belfast last year. Check out our post on it here.

Anyway, our oppas have been actively encouraging fans on twitter to vote for them, Yes, vote for them!! Now please, Voting ends tomorrow. Each person gets to vote up for 100 times. If you would like to vote more for them, you can also here, here and here for additional votes. So that is like 400 votes per person, per day!

The irony is that, they are up again Han Geng, ex-member of Super Junior. Remember what they say, strength in numbers? United we stand, Divided we fall? And things like that? Well it is time to prove that. Hangeng made the decision to fly solo, I'm glad he made a name for himself in China and Taiwan. But going up against the old band which he left. I cannot find it in my heart to support him like this.

By the way, Psy is also up for the "Best Video" award for gangnam style.

So do your bit for KPOP and vote for Super Junior for Best Asian Act at the EMAs today!

Big Bang Alive Galaxy 2012 in Singapore!

Pardon the shitty quality photos.

But the concert was just wow, fantastic baby!

Big Bang is wonderful at hyping up the atmosphere. Their songs just get people on their feet, jumping and dancing around. I absolutely loved it.

I just felt so happy when they performed Haru Haru because that is my absolutely favourite BB song. They did the slow version but it was still amazing nonetheless.

I fell in love with Daesung that night. He looked a lot better in real life and he was so sweet and adorable. His smile just dazzled me off my feet. When he did his wings solo and walked out with that huge pair of fluffy wings, I am like hey angel~

Seungri was also damn handsome! :)

Will definitely go for another Big Bang concert in the future! Worth the sweat, the wait, the money and my love!

Big Bang Alive Galaxy Tour

ARE YOU GUYS READY FOR

BIG BANG ALIVE TOUR IN SINGAPORE?!?

Yes, I bet all you lucky ones holding the tickets cannot wait! To get into the mood, let's look at the Big Bang Alive Tour trailer!

Haha, Kpop-Heroes, wtf! It just makes them sound ridiculous.

Not enough?!?! Let's look at their previous live performances!

Although I personally do not believe in watching a DVD of a concert prior to the real show. I prefer going for the real thing and then buying the DVD just to recap all the amazing wonderful moments after that.

The concert is going to be a blast! I love Super Junior, but I cannot deny that Big Bang puts up a wow, fantastic baby live performance! Their energy is really great!

Have a great day all you VIPs out there.

By the way, if you are looking for an iphone /4s cover to bring to the concert, dearjojo.com is selling VIP covers!

6 thoughts on kpop

5 THOUGHTS ON KPOP

(only using an old banner because I have no time to make a new one, and i like this banner too)

On the outside fangirls might seem crazy for going all out for their idols, but kpop has made life a lot easier to handle for a lot of people. And that sometimes, is the reason why we dive ourselves in to the world of Kpop.

1. Kpop taught me it was okay to be awkward.

I love my awkward idols. Sohee was so awkward in Wonder Bakery, Yesung was just an awkward turtle in general, all their phails on variety show thought me it was okay to make a fool of myself once in a while. Nobody would look on me any less and still love me for the fail whale that I am. They aren't perfect robots but embarrassed human beings like us too.

2. I can become pretty too.

This is 2NE1.

This is how 2NE1 used to look.

I love this picture. It s a very good picture to illustrate my point on how dressing up and putting makeup can improve one's appearance.

Not to the point of this

but significantly enough.

3. Collecting cars is a perfectly reasonable hobby.

Eunhyuk, in Full House, said his hobby was collecting cars. I love Kpop because it makes me laugh. It makes me happy when I have had a bad day.

Their variety shows don't take themselves too seriously. Most of their idols don't carry that idol baggage around a.k.a Fahrenheit (a mando popband)

Running man is totally the best show to watch after a shitty day at work. It never fails to put a smile on my face or make me clap in delight.

4. The Fandoms.

I am an ELF. I have participated in plenty of Super Junior activities. What is awesome about Kpop fandoms is that they usually have an official colour. Going to an SJ concert and looking at the sapphire blue ocean makes me proud to be in the fandom, supporting my idol.

People in the fandom support each other, are willing to get to know each other and make friends just based on the pretext we like the same group.

It lets me know, I am not alone. Kpop brings people together. I have made a lot of new friends that way.

I'm pretty sure the other VIPs, SONEs, Cassiopeia, Shawols etc will feel the same way.

5. I will have false hopes.

That is unfortunately the ultimate downside to Kpop. I now live with the knowledge that guys like NichKhun, Lee Seung Gi and Jung Yun Ho exist. I now also live with the expectation that I would meet a guy like these perfect men and be able to marry them.

What's worse is that Korean Dramas perpetuate that notion by even suggesting that any protaganist (rich or ugly or has some extremely sad life) will and can end up with a happily ever ending. Life has also gotten X81371384 more difficult for the kpop fan girl.

6. People rarely feel bored.

Things are constantly changing in the world of kpop. They happen fast and furious and oh so exciting (Think T-ara). Anyway, besides it being such a dynamic environment there are plenty of thigns to do. Watch Korean Drams, Variety Shows, read up on your idols in forums, go make friends in forums, do artwork etc. The list never ends. There is never a dull moment in the world of Kpop which means that you will not be wasting your time doing drugs or out doing illegal things.

If I get any more thoughts, will definitely share them again as part 2. Till then, let's go look at some pretty girl group photos. -shuyan

Having a good wallpaper for whatsapp can be frustrating. The convos can block the entire kpop celebrity you have as your wallpaper. Soo Young Wallpaper

Here is a wallpaper of long legs Soo Young!

We Got Mail!

We got mail!

People have been sending in stuff for us to share, so here we go!

One

DJ Froto has sent in his remix-ed version of G-Dragon's One of A Kind.

I like the remix its good, unfortunately, it is after a video medium.

The video can be more interesting. Lengthy shots of equipment can really be... not that interesting.

Two A group of French Hip Hop dances has decided to remix Big Bang's Fantastic Baby!

It has a detailed plot describing dancers struggling to liberate the world from anti-music dictatorship. The costumes and make up are pretty elaborate so that is nice.

Good effort! And its awesome they are spreading more Kpop love to France!!

Bonjour~

GIRLS' GENERATION

NEW MV NEW MV.

ALL MY LOVE IS FOR YOU MV

Doreen saw the MV and sent me "they are fucking pretty". So I rushed home to watch it because silly phone and silly 3G network could not support it when I was in the MRT.

Full of flawless and perfect. Why are they all so gorgeous. When we look at the MV we are once again reminded of being inferior (uglier) beings.

They are like angels in the soft lighting of the MV.

We got mail!

We love to hear from our readers out there! Whether they have something interesting to share, like their own works (e.g. flashmob in Sweden), or just fascinating stuff or thoughts they have about kpop!

Joshua Simon from Singapore has shared with us his acoustic rendition of Psy's Gangnam Style! If you don't know what Gangnam Style is, please leave the rock you have been living under.

This is a nice change from all the parodies popping out everywhere. And well it is a pretty decent homemade video! It's brilliant this stuff!

Do continue to share stuff with us!

P/s: I know some mail get lost in the spam section, do tweet us a DM or email us again!

Using their power for a greater good!

A few weeks ago, Super-Kpop (we love animals!) decided to support Gentle Paw's flea market by donating some of our kpop posters to them to help raise funds for the medical fees of the dogs affect with parvovirus. We are glad the dogs there are well now. Thank you to the kind souls who bought our posters!

This brings our attention to KPOP stars who love animals too and are regularly campaigning for their rights and better welfare.

For her 23rd birthday, Tiffany of SNSD has decided to help out with raising money for the Korean Animal Welfare Association. Items worn by Tiffany will be auctioned off and the sum raised will go to help them run their activities.

Dana from The Grace tweets a lot about animals. Look at following example below.

She retweets a lot of stuff from @FromCareKorea which supports the coexistence of animal rights on earth!

Yes they are retweets, but she is sending out the message to her fans to care for animals and they need our love. Thank you Dana for being such a lovely lady. Plus 29357203 points for having a heart for animals.

And who can forget Lee Hyori.

She regularly states out her stand on her love for animals and the rights they should have.

Although there was the controversy about her wearing leather jackets, she has since thrown away all leather jackets which are cruelly made from animal hide.

She has released a book in March of 2012 and all proceeds from her photo essay book 'closer' will be donated to the Korean Animal Rights Advocates.

There was also this incident where she tweeted "I’m embarrassed and sorry to be a human as he(the owner). Next time don’t be born as a dog, mute and powerless” about the incident of a photograph of a beagle hanging out of the car boot of an Equus and dragged on the motorway, and faces the possibility of getting sued for defamation. Well we say, animal torturers deserve any shit they get. Please continue standing up for them (animals).

And U GO GIRL HYORI!!!!

Here are other celebrities who have done their part for animal rights including participating in a photoshoot for exhibition with The Korean Society of Human Animal Bond. They include SNSD, SHINee, Lee Yeon Hee, Gong Hyo Jin and others.

Not only are KPOP artistes doing their part, but fans are also helping out.

Like U-Know Yunho's fans who have decided to donate to the Korean Animal Welfare Association. in celebration of his 27th Birthday!

SO did Shinhwa's fans! Because " Shinhwa has shown their interest in love to animals numerous times in the past, and this is a perfect way to respect that." they have decided to donate 3,450 Kilograms of animal feed to an animal welfare organization!

All these people are awesome!! I bet there are a lot more examples out there!

We hope everyone will care for animals and treat them with the respect they deserve. They are unable to voice out their pain and unhappiness but that does not mean they cannot feel too. All animals, big or small, healthy or not deserve as much happiness that they can. Not everyone is as blessed to get adopted into a family who loves them (eg Doreen's JoJo). And anyone reading this, we hope you can do your part too! Even if you do not volunteer or donate, you can still do a tiny something if you spot anyone abusing their pets and any animal in distress to the SPCA or local animal welfare centre!

Animal welfare associations/ animal shelters out there, if you think Super-Kpop can help you in anyway, please do not hesitate to contact us! :)

Only One - BoA

I've been listening to BoA's new album for some weeks now, and what i can really say is that I'm really thankful for this album. Especially for the title track "Only one", it is too precious for the current kpop scene which is "infested" with genric autotuned dance tracks.

I was even more amazed when i learned that this song was self-composed and self penned by BoA herself! It's a gem. With the strong dance moves (and her very soft & innocent style!) by BoA, this comeback is perfect. However, its quite a shame that this song did't do as well as it deserves, thanks to the whole Gangnam shit (like seriously?).

Anyway, BoA really lives to inspire others. The effort and dedication she puts into her work is really really really impressive.I think this isn't the first time we did a post on how we are inspired and motivated by her. Haha! Truth is, i get so touched and inspired by her whenever i watch a video of her. She is just a pure living legend.

Well she might be goddess-like in most of our eyes (like, there's nothing BoA can't do), watching her recent interview made me realised that BoA is in fact a normal human being like us.In the interview, she is like this innocent and humble puny little girl who wants to show the world what she has got.

In short, she is REAL. And for her, like us, there are also times where loneliness kicks in and hands from every where trying to push you off the edge. I guess what we really gotta to learn from her is to keep trying and do your very best! Never give up! Everyone has a chance to shine, if you don't give up.

From debut till today, BoA has indeed came a long way. Watch her comeback special interview below and tell us what you think!
(She's so gorgeuos by the way!!!!)

Leeteuk is going to the Army

Following in fellow members Kangin and Heechul's footsteps, Leeteuk is going to join the army soon.

:(

It will be 2 years before we meet again, amazing leader of the amazing Super Junior.

Leeteuk has been such an important part of Super Junior, as the one who leads them on, as the one who sweet talks his way out of everything, the one who brings the average of Super Junior up.

I will miss this guy too, just like I missed Kangin and Heechul. I am really glad they are together as a group, so if one joins the army, there is still the rest of them for support and love.

Leeteuk oppa, him nae se yo!

Thank you for leading Super Junior all this while and for taking care of the members, for taking care of us ELFs.

We will be waiting for your return.

For when you return, our love will be like you never left.

I bet you will be still sexy, free and single maybe?

We are BACK!

While we were on hiatus, a lot has happened in the world of Kpop. Our favourite oppas here at Super-Kpop, Super Junior, has released a brand new album. Sexy, Free & Single which has been repackaged into SPY. We loved Sexy, Free & Single. While we already know they were Sexy, knowing that they were also Single just gave fangirls out there exploding ovaries. Come, let's all appreciate some good Super Junior together.
I know its old, but I dont care because they produce timeless stuff. While we were religiously listening to Super Junior's new album on repeat, Some members have decided to reward our dedication with magazine shoots!

Meanwhile, Psy has gone viral with Gangnam Style.

Even appearing on ABC news,
That song is an earworm! I cant get it out of my head for quite some period of time afte I heard it.

And a most exciting news event, Hwayoung getting kicked out of T-ara, rumoured bullying news. Not going to elaborate here because it is a really really long story with lots of juicy bits here, there, everywhere!

2 Singaporean girls have also debuted in the world of Kpop under the group name Skarf with Alpha Ent.
Here is their MV.

I have to say, it is pretty forgettable, run of the mill stuff. Admittedly, Tasha is quite pretty. I don't know, I can't see them being as popular as 2NE1 who has a very strong style, or SNSD which are really to pretty to be compared with. Plus, not being very good at korean is quite disadvantageous.

Other news worthy stuff include, CN releases new material!
Some boy band is taking care of babies!
Haha is getting married!
Kim Jong Kook fails again to destroy the giraffe!

And that rounds up a mini session of Kpop updates here!

See you all soon!

Time Machine: Boy Group Edition

This is another time machine post. But its the boy group edition this time!

Let's go back when our oppas were young and innocent, wild and free!

Super Junior

LOOK AT HOW HQ THIS VIDEO IS. Excuse while I go somewhere and sob and cry. I miss them as 13 sfm!

Shinhwa

Before DBSK, before SJ , there was the legend Shinhwa!

Let's rejoice in Shinhwa's comeback in a few days!

H.O.T.

Our oppas were fervent fans of them too ok?

Look at how young they used to be~Im just going to upload their recent pics here. Hopefully this gives a rouge guage how your oppars will age in 10? 15? years time.

Here is Tony,

And Heejun,

and Kangta,

DBSK

Rising gods of the east before they became all hot and muscly.

Fly to the Sky

I really like this song by them!

Big Bang!

Their style is so distinct even back then. And before Taeyang's mohawk lol!

SS501

Xing

Doesnt anyone even still remember them? Well, before Junhyun was in Beast and Kevin in Ukiss, ... This was what they were doing!

SHINee

2pm

I FEEL SO OLD NOW.

New fangirls might never know the magic and legacy of such old bands.
